In today’s globalised world we have to be able to speak English properly in business as well as private contexts. This means that we need to pronounce English correctly and articulate clearly as well as understand others and be understood by native and non-native speakers around the globe. Sounds like an ambitious goal? It can, in fact, be tackled successfully if you have your perfect ‘tool box’, and if you put a little effort in your pronunciation training. How about starting today by joining this masterclass? In our masterclass we will focus on British English pronunciation (Modern RP), and we will open our ‘tool box’ and have a closer look at - how the mouth works - all 44 sounds in British English - stress, intonation and rhythm - connected speech. In specifically designed exercises you will learn how to produce every single English sound clearly and accurately as well as understand the phonetic alphabet (IPA) and how it relates to pronunciation. In addition, we will have a look at one of the most important features of British English, CONNECTED SPEECH, and we will practise speaking with texts and videos. By the end of the course, you will have learned how to sound more authentically English, and you will feel more confident about speaking the language. Do you enjoy reading novels in English? Would you like to join a group of book lovers that meet on a regular basis to share and discuss what they have read at home? If your answer to both questions is YES, you’ve come to the right place! Reading improves our language awareness, expands our vocabulary and deepens our understanding of different cultural backgrounds, values and attitudes. In our British Book Club we will look at various British novels of different genres and literary periods. You’ll be given sufficient time to read the novels at home, and we will discuss features such as setting, characters, language, plot and themes in our club sessions, and share our personal opinions and thoughts. For our three club sessions please read the following novels: 10th November 2026 – “Perfect” by Rachel Joyce 15th December 2026 – “The Names” by Florence Knapp 16th February 2027 – “A Room with a View” by E. Movies provide an excellent and highly entertaining source of language training for English students of all ages and levels. They offer valuable exposure to the numerous sounds of English and different cultures as well as being a fabulous source of new and advanced vocabulary. When combining English audio with English subtitles, movies can be used to help you work on all language skills including listening and understanding, reading, spelling, and, of course, speaking. In this course we will work with a selection of different movies in both British and American English, thus providing you with a wide range of accents, topics and cultural backgrounds. You will watch the movies at home (in ENGLISH and with ENGLISH subtitles; all films are available on DVD or streaming services of your choice), and we will discuss plot, story and characters in class and will practise vocabulary and pronunciation.
